brasero is the default CD burner on the Gnome Desktop. Unfortunately, since past several years, it does not work properly and appears to be out of maintenance.
In place of brasero, you can use a xfburn. It does a very good job. The only reason you would look at xfburn is to avoid installing the large KDE desktop libraries if you are just a Gnome 3 or Mate or Cinnamon or XFCE or LXDE user.
