If you want to play Movie DVDs on Linux, then the earlier method of will not work anymore on Ubuntu. To start playing movie DVDs, do the following. $ sudo apt-get install libdvdnav4 libdvdread4 gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly libdvd-pkg <enter> Once you are done installing above package, the DVDs can be played flawlessly using VLC.
